Entry for May 5, 2007
The weather in Western Pa has turned to true spring. The peonies are budding, the lilacs are blooming, and the roses are leafing. So it is time to begin growing roses. If you haven’t done so already, check out the things to do in May (click on the “Things to do this Month” page. If you had midge last year, as I did, now is the perfect time to apply the Bayer Complete Insect Killer for Soil and Turf. This comes in granules and in a spray concentrate. The spray looks to be the best bet if you have a large rose garden. This has the same active ingredient as the Bayer Rose and Flower spray, but is in a concentrate and therefore much cheaper if you plan to use it often.
Also, we have added a link to the Care Free Rose article Father first printed in the Rose Vine in May 2006. If you need to more about this topic come on over to the next meeting on Sunday May 20 at 2:00 pm. Father will speak on this subject and the program committee is trying to get pictures of the best roses on the list to show you. See you there. 2007-05-05 17:32:55 GMT
