Although we are at the average levels of seasonal precipitation, we have not had a significant rain in several weeks.  Don't forget to check your roses.  If you garden is like ours, in a yard surrounded by trees, your garden will dry out quickly in these conditions, even if properly mulched.  Deer are active in our area also.  Nothing is more discouraging than hoping to have a bloom to enter in the Spring Rose Show only to discover it gone--food for these roaming bush pruners.
