The Japanese beetles are popping up in our area.  These critters will chew your rose blooms and leaves to shreds.  You can spray or trap them by knocking them into a can of soapy water.  I just crush them with a garden gloved hand.  Don't try traps.  This usually on attracts the beetles from your neighbors’ yard.  A worse problem for me this summer has been spider mites.  I have been forced to use a systemic insect killer and also spray to keep them in check.  Having a problem and aren't sure what to do?  Call one of our consulting Rosarians.  You can access the list from any page on this site or the "site map".  Good luck. Also, the directions to the Tour Gardens are also not listed on the Events Calendar page.  The newsletter is delayed.  Father Gervase has been out of town.
