Entry for September 17, 2007

Our first Rose Festival is over and what a great day!  We have 226 roses entered in the horticulture show.  The Queen went to Lisa DiPardo for her Gemini entry.  One of the highlights was the creative selection of arrangements entered in the Student Class by the Bidwell Training Center students.  Casey Evans won the popular vote for an entry called “Tea Time” (a photo is on the September Show Page).  But the best part of the day was the auction.  All the roses went at a fraction of retail price, but all the proceeds go to the Society.  We owe a special thanks to Meder’s Nursery, near Century III, for their donation of many fine roses to the auction.  I got a new release, Wild Berry Breeze, for $11.  The retail price of this rose is around $25.  If you missed this event, too bad for you.  See you next year!
