Well, we have had our first freeze.  According to the "old saws" you need three of these before the ground is frozen and the roses should be winterized.  We will add more information about getting the roses through a tough winter this week-end.  Right now is a great time to collect your mulch material and place it next to the bushes or in a heap.  Then when that third freeze comes, pile it on.
